Ready~Set~Go

I cannot believe that my granddaughter is already in third grade. Life seems to be speeding by and children growing up at a very rapid rate and it is all very depressing to me. This page documents Abby's preparation for and her first day of school last month. I used this fun sketch from Sketch-n-Scrap

I am entering their sketch challenge with this page.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and checking out my page.

MFT Challenge #299

I love my new Halloween set from My Favorite Things.....Frightful Friends. I made this card for my husband because I truly DO believe we were created for each other. This sketch was perfect for the card I had in mind to create:

I am entering this card into the MFT Sketch Challenge #299 and also the Simon Says Stamp Monday Powder Power Challenge since I used embossing powder to heat emboss my sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my card.  I hope it put a smile on your face. :)

Fall Coffee Lovers Bloghop Card #1

It is that time again.....time for my favorite blog hop....the Coffee Lovers Bloghop.  This one of course to celebrate the changing season is fall themed.  For my first card I did a total scraplift of a beautiful card I saw online by Nicole Vogeli. Here is Nicole's card:

You can see more of her work and this card on her blog

Here is my card:
.
The ink sponging was a brand new technique for me and while it is not as beautifully blended as Nicole's I love the outcome and it is definitely something I hope to use over and over again to create a background for cards.

There are some wonderful prizes and gorgeous cards at the blog hop to motivate and inspire you.  I hope to be back tomorrow to share another card with you.  Thanks for stopping by.

Sweet Home Chicago

I watched The Blues Brothers movie the other night and it inspired me to scrap these beautiful pictures we have of our hometown of Chicago.  We were up there recently last spring and got some great pictures.  I used this perfect two page sketch from Let's Scrap:

I am entering it in their 9-15-16 sketch challenge. You can see all the details HERE  There is still time to enter.

That's about it for now.  Thank you for checking out my blog.

Merry Kiss-Mas

I started making Christmas cards again after a brief break.  My creativity recently left me when I found out that I have what appears to be early stage breast cancer.  Although it appears we caught it early, when you hear your doctor say "You have cancer.", it stops you in your tracks. I have my first appointment tomorrow with a top notch breast surgeon that I researched thoroughly for and I am confident that I will make a full recovery. Last month, August 17th I saw the Cas-ual Fridays Calling All Sistahs blog hop and I was reminded to make my mammogram appointment.  I had my mammogram on August 23rd and it was abnormal.  What if I had ignored that reminder from Michele and the gals at Cas-ual Fridays? So if your mammogram is due or past due....don't delay.  Make the appointment TODAY.

The stamps I used to make this card are a stamp set from CAS-ual Fridays called Mistletoe and Holly.  I just loved this set as soon as I saw it.  I am entering it in their Dimension and Bling Challenge.

For dimension I use the corrugated red cardboard. The bling is hard to photograph but several of the holly berries are small red rhinestones and the white ribbon on the bottom is glittered.

I am also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday Use a Stamp Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and I would appreciate all the prayers and good wishes as I begin my journey to wellness.

Lucky Dog

I just love this cute and funny picture of Titan, the new rescued dog that has come to live with my son Matt and his family. I used some very old Bo Bunny papers (the paper with stars on it) and some very new products including that little Doodlebug pup in the lower right hand corner.  It is fun to mix older stuff from my stash with new items.  I also used this great Laura Whitaker sketch from Stuck? Sketches:

I am entering this page in their sketch challenge.  You can see all the details HERE

I am also entering this page in the Clique Kits September Anything Goes Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by tonight. I appreciate your sweet comments.

1st Day of Kindergarten

The last of my grandchildren went to kindergarten this year.  (big sigh)  Little Izzy with her backpack that looked as big as she is (and probably weighs more than she does) was very excited to go to school. The special day needed proper documentation and an awesome Page Maps sketch along with some older Echo Park papers and a few Bella Blvd stickers helped me tell the story.

I am entering this page in the Clique Kits September Anything Goes challenge.

I am also entering this page in the Use Red Challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge

Thanks for popping into see what I have been up to.

Birthday Wishes Shannon

My niece and God-daughter's birthday just snuck up on me this year. Luckily if I get this card in the mail early tomorrow and the US Postal Service cooperates, perhaps this card will arrive in time for Shannon's birthday on Wednesday.

I used this sketch from Die Cuttin' Divas:

The die I used is the scalloped circle from Sketchabilities Lacey Circles set of dies.....one of my favorites.

I am entering this card at Simon Says Stamp's Work It Wednesday Challenge to Use a Stamp

That about does it for now. Thank you for stopping by my blog.

Twinkle, Twinkle

I like to spoil my grandchildren (what grandma doesn't?) and so to celebrate the beginning of the school year for my granddaughters, I bought them a little gift each and made them a card to tell them I love them and to encourage them to work hard in school. This card is for 8 year old Abby.

The beautiful sentiment is from Verve Stamps and I used their sketch from Mojo Monday:

I stayed pretty true to the sketch except instead of a diamond shape in the center of the card I went with a circle since my sentiment was in the shape of a circle.

I am also entering this card in Simon Says Stamp's Work it Wednesday Use a Stamp Challenge

Thanks for stopping in and checking out my blog.  I hope your week is perfectly delightful.

Wishing You a Very Merry Christmas

Yes, it is another Christmas card....I am plugging along creating 2-3 Christmas cards per week and I will have them all made hopefully by the start of December. For this one I used this awesome sketch from Kerry Urbatch for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog:

I am also entering this card in the Die Cuttin' Divas Anything Goes Challenge

The die I used is the beautiful Lacey Circle Spellbinders die that my sentiment is sitting on. That sentiment is a digital freebie that Julee Tillman was offering last year.  It is now available in a stamp set from Verve stamps.

And finally I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge

That's probably it for tonight....I have been busy in my creative space all day and I think I may go in there and work on finishing up a project that I started earlier in the week.

Thanks for taking time out of your weekend.

Happy 35th

It really is true that the older you get, the faster time seems to go by.  I remember my youngest as a cute little 10 year old it seems like just last week and next week he is going to be 35 years old. I still remember being 35 and now that seems like a lifetime ago.

I used 2 dies from Simon Says Stamp to create this card.....the polaroid birthday frame and the script HAPPY so I am entering this card in the Die Cuttin' Divas Anything Goes Challenge.

I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog....I hope you are having a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

Trick or Treat --Cupcake Inspirations Challenge

I love making Halloween crafts so it is not surprising that I have started on them already.  When I saw the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 373 Sweet Inside I was inspired to make a little Halloween treat bag.

I used my Lawn Fawn Goodie Bag Die and my Tim Holtz Crazy Birds stamps along with their accessories and dies.  The sentiment is also from Tim Holtz.

I am also entering this project in the Die Cuttin' Divas Anything Goes Challenge -- I used 3 dies plus the die for the goodie bag on this project.

In addition to the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge, I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge.

Thanks for dropping by my blog.  It is a rainy, gloomy day here in Florida so I think I just might stay in my creative place all day today watching college football, drinking coffee and making pretty things.
