Congratulations Mike and Jessica

My co-worker Mike and his wife recently had a sweet baby girl.  I wanted to make a card for him but did not have much in my stamp collection to celebrate the birth of a baby.  I knew I wanted to use this sketch from Sugar Pea Designs:

So I looked at my Sugar Pea stamp sets and found this adorable image of a newly hatched baby dinosaur.  So I stamped, colored and cut out the new hatching (coloring her pink, of course) and a palm tree and put it all together. I changed the card design to a square card but other than that I stayed true to the sketch.

I am finally starting to fee better after 3 weeks of sickness.  I am taking it easy this weekend (luckily no big Easter dinner to prepare or attend) so hopefully I can get a full week of work in next week. No one pays me to stay home and make cards! (I wish!!)

Here's wishing you a happy Easter and a wonderful weekend.

We're Better Together

This is my 5th and last card that I created for the Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop which closes in about 8 hours.  What an awesome display of creativity!  And we have a new record on the number of link ups....I am hoping for over 700.  Amy Tsuruta and her helpers have done an incredible job.  Check it out HERE -- there are some gorgeous projects and fun prizes!

Here is my card that I made entirely of scraps....except for the fun coffee cup that I cut out from a 4x6 Simple Stories card from their Pumpkin Spice collection.

I used this great sketch from My Favorite Things:

I am also entering this card at the Paper Sweeties March challenge.  I was inspired by the colors on this inspiration board:

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my project.....have a wonderful weekend.

Sickie Selfies

I mentioned in a recent post that my husband and I have been sick for over a week now.  We went back to work 3 days ago but unfortunately are still fighting this thing. In an effort to keep my scrapping "real" I decided to make this page and to document what it is like to live together, work together, be sick together.  I used all Simple Stories papers and embellishments from several different collections but the majority are from the I AM collection.  I also used this awesome sketch from The Scraproom Blog:

I have really been loving their recent sketches and if chosen I would be invited to be a guest designer with one of their yummy looking kits in an upcoming month.  Isn't that an awesome honor and prize?  You can read all the details HERE.

That is about it for this evening....it is almost the weekend and I am REALLY looking forward to it.

A Little Birdie.....

My husband and I have both been sick for nearly a week with upper respiratory junk.  Thankfully yesterday we went back to work and are now on the mend.  But a couple of nights ago my poor hubby coughed ALL night long. We are currently in the process of redecorating our guest room and the bed is dismantled so it was not an option for me to go sleep in the guest room.  By 3am I realized I was wide awake and was not going back to sleep anytime soon.  So I got up and went to my creative place and starting crafting.  Surprisingly my mojo was flowing and by 6am I had completed 4 cards & finished a layout that I had started the day before. This card is for my soon to be 14 year old niece Rachel.  That pretty blue background paper is from the DCWV Chalkboard Stack.  In fact, all the papers are from DCWV.  I also used this March Stack-a-holic card sketch of theirs:

The little birdie that I colored with my Copics is from a Cocoa Daisy stamp set and the sentiment is from Tim Holtz.

I am also entering this in the Mod Squad Springtime Challenge because what say Springtime more that sweet little birdies??

Thanks for stopping by tonight!

Espresso Your Style

It is that time again.....time for the Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop.  I love coffee and I love to make cards so put the two together and you get a fun time that Amy Tsuruta (with some help from her friends) puts on a few times a year.  There is so much talent and so many fun projects to inspire me that I really look forward to these hops.  And prizes....did I mention the prizes?  Amy has rounded up prizes from the best sponsors in the industry.  I have never won a prize before but I am feeling good about my chances this time around.  I hope you will get inspired and make/enter a few cards yourself.  Leave me your link in the comments below and I promise I will come visit your blog and leave you some love.

Here is my next project.  I actually made 3 coffee themed cards early this morning.

For this card I used a 3x4 free printable from Paper Issues.  They are currently having their Spring online crop so this card is doing double duty.  You can get the info on the crop by clicking HERE

I am also entering this in Simon Says Stamp's Monday Food and Drink Challenge

And finally I am entering this card in Paper Sweeties March Challenge.  I was inspired by the blackboard on their inspiration board:

Thanks for stopping by....have a wonderful week.

Donut Worry.....Be Happy

It seems to be a law of nature that when most children become teenagers (especially boys), they do not like to have their picture taken.  Such is the case with my 14 year old grandson Jacob. I am getting fewer and fewer photos of him so when I get one I need to make sure it gets documented.  This picture was taken nearly 2 years ago when Jake and his brother were down here visiting us in Florida.  I have NO clue why it has taken me this long to scrap it.  However I found it this past weekend and found the perfect sketch to use to document this moment in time from Universal Studios.  This sketch is from the March Anything Goes Challenge at Clique Kits.

I love all the negative space on this page and how the focus is on my handsome grandson.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today...even though it is Monday I hope it is a good day for you.

Hey Chickee

Well the Easter packages for the grandkids are in the mail and on their way 1000 miles from Florida to the Midwest. This card is for my youngest granddaughter....Izzy.  I used this sketch from Sugar Pea Designs:

Unfortunately I did not have a stamp set from Sugar Pea to use to create this card.  We need to change that....I most definitely need to build my collection of their awesome stamps, especially now since I am starting to color with my ever expanding collection of Copic markers.

I am also entering this card in Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Cute and Cuddly challenge

Thanks for stopping by my blog....I hope you will stop by again soon as I have some more projects to share with you.

I used this great sketch from My Favorite Things:

That awesome sentiment is from the MFT coffee themed set Stay Cool.

Ok....now I am heading back into my room to make another coffee card.

Crazy Bird Easter Card

I did not get much time this weekend to craft but I did get a chance to make this card tonight.  I would really love to learn to make beautiful watercolored backgrounds.  I used some distress re-inkers on watercolor paper for this background and then spritzed it with a bit of water.  I just wish I had more time to play around with the different techniques.  Thank goodness for You Tube videos....I learn SO much from watching those.

Since I made my own background for this card I am entering it in the current Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge -- Make Your Own Background.

I cannot believe the weekend is over already and I only got one Easter card done.  I have 8 more to make Monday-Thursday! Since I live apart from all my family members (we are spread all over this country) I need to get everything in the mail by this Friday March 18th.

Do you send out Easter  cards?

Another St. Patrick's Day card

This is my last St. Patrick's Day card to share and my granddaughter has already received this card and all her green goodies that I sent with it (including the green nail polish!)  I used this awesome sketch from

I stayed pretty true to the sketch....I swapped out shamrocks for the hearts. In addition to the sketch challenge at Viva La Verve, I am also entering this card at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge

I was very busy this weekend and did not have much time for crafting.  But the guest room, got re-painted, we had out of town guests for a few days and went to see an awesome concert by the Moody Blues.  How was YOUR weekend?

Best Bike Ever?

My granddaughter Izzy received a bike for her birthday last August that she refused to ride until one day out of the blue in October.  She suddenly decided she liked the bike and wanted to ride it.  The story was so cute that I wanted to document it. This current sketch from Stuck? Sketches!
was perfect for this two photo girly page.

I am also entering this layout in the texture challenge this month at Pink Fresh StudiosNearly all the papers are from the new Felicity line from Pink Fresh and several of the embellishments are also.
My hot pink photo mats are burlap to add texture.  My other textured elements are the glittery bow, round wooden camera embellishment, the fabric flower, and those awesome little felt scalloped borders and glittery foam scripty words from Pink Fresh Studios.  I love adding texture to my pages so this was a fun challenge for me.

The final challenge that I am entering this page is Clique Kits Anything Goes March Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog....one more work day left this week.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Jake!

I made a bunch of St. Patrick's Day card a couple of days ago and this one is already on it's way to my 14 year old grandson Jake in Indiana.  Included with this card are a bunch of fun green items in a green gift bag.  I think his favorite will be the cold hard greenbacks!

I used this sketch from Sketch-n-Scrap:

I just turned it 90 degrees to make it work for me.

I am also entering this in Darnell's NBUS Challenge (Never Before Used Schtuff).  I recently found a Martha Stewart shamrock punch at my local thrift store.  I believe they are hard to come buy so I was excited to find it and that it was priced at only $2. So those shamrocks on this card are punched using my new to me punch.

Finally, I am entering this card in this week's Mod Squad's Challenge -- It IS Easy to be Green

Well that is about it for tonight.....thanks for stopping by.

Lucky to Be Irish

I found this awesome picture from 3 years ago of my grandsons and their yummy looking St. Patrick's Day feast and this year, I remember to scrap it.  I used the awesome March sketch from The Scrappy Friends Challenge and am entering it into the Grand Diva's Scrappy Place sketch challenge

I am also entering it in the This or That Challenge....Chevrons or Polka Dots on Rochelle Spears blog. I used lots of polka dots on this page.
and in Kelly's March Mood Board Challenge  I was inspired by all the green, the shamrocks and the St. Patrick's Day theme of the board.

There are some awesome prizes to be had on these blogs....wish me luck!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Cole!

When your last name is Farley, St. Patrick's Day is a big deal.  I always send my grandchildren a Bag O' Green with a bunch of green goodies....Wrigley's Spearmint Gum, dollar bills, goofy shamrock shaped glasses and shamrock print bow ties, rub-on temporary tattoos, green yo-yo's and all kinds of fun green things.  Of course there is always a handmade card in with the goodies telling them how much I love them and miss them.. The packages went postal today so in just a couple of days the kids will have their goodies.  I used this wonderful sketch from Mojo Monday for Cole's card:

I am also entering this card in this week's Mod Squad Challenge...It IS Easy Being Green
and
I am entering this card in Darnell's NBUS (Never Before Used Schtuff) Challenge because it is the first time I used the DCWV's cork sheets.  I die cut it and I have no idea why I have not used it before....it is awesome!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hockey Arena Tour

My husband and I love hockey.  We lived in
Chicago for most of our lives so our team is the current Stanley Cup Champions...the Chicago Blackhawks.  In January and February this year we were able to see three games....two in Florida and one in Colorado.  Each of the arenas where these games were held were awesome in their own unique way. I wanted to showcase the three arenas that we visited on this page.

All of the papers and embellishments are from two Imaginisce travel themed collections....Perfect Vacation and Scooter's Vacation.  Both of these collections have been in my stash awhile as I have been hoarding them for just the "perfect" pictures to use them with.  The challenge was to use 75% Imaginisce product, the sketch and the color green.  The only thinkgs on my page that are not from Imaginisce are the small white letters/numbers, the Thickers for the title and the bottom layer of distressed paper and the hockey flair.

I am also entering this page in the Clique Kits March Anything Goes Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by tonight.

My Favorite Things Sketch #270

I mad all my St. Patrick's Day cards today.  I was home sick from work and although I did not feel too well I had to get these cards done.....don't you just love that Doodlebug Leprecaun?

I used this card sketch from My Favorite Things:

Since I made my tag out of corrugated green cardstock for texture, I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge...Touchy, Feely (use texture)

Thanks for stopping by tonight...I will be posting the rest of my cards shortly.

Treasured Moments

This is the second time I scrapped this photo.  I scrapped it a couple of months ago and put it in my scrapbook that I keep for myself.  But I also wanted to include it in my youngest son's album as that is he and I in the photo over 25 years ago.  I really loved the 5th week sketch at Let's Get Sketchy :

It worked beautifully with this photo and papers from Echo Park.

It felt good to get creative tonight after a long day at work.  When are you the most creative?
