Crazy Cool Dude

Last night and tonight I came home from work and got creative with a sketch each night from Laura Whitaker for Boys Rule Scrapbooking. This picture of my grandson Cole is over 2 years old but I realized that I had never scrapped it.  And he is just so cute with his attitude bustin' out all over, I had to document it.

I used the September sketch from Boys Rule.

I am so glad I got a chance to enter both the September and October sketch challenges before the deadline.

It's Friday tomorrow and I can hardly wait!  We are going to paint the guestroom a very nautical gray and navy blue.  What is on your agenda??

My Father, My Friend

Here is another work night layout that I was able to do.  I thought about this one at work today and even came up with a title.  I came home and knocked it out in about an hour.  I love making pages for Jacob's scrapbook because at 14 years old he doesn't always like to be in pictures.  I have many more pictures of his brother and cousins to scrap then of him.

I used this sketch from Boys Rule Scrapbooking:

Thanks for stopping by...we are over the hump and only 2 more days to the weekend.

Ten Thirty-One

Last night after work, I really was in the mood to get creative and I created 2 Halloween scrapbook pages for my granddaughters' album.  These pictures were from last year (2014) when Abby and Izzy went as a cat and a mouse (Minnie Mouse actually) For this page I used this sketch from Page Maps:

I am entering this page in the Picture This October 1st Challenge which was to use 3 photos + chipboard + stamps.  The stamps I used are the two adorable Paper Smooches sentiments on my journaling tag...they say "You're Bootiful" and "You Are Faboolous!"  I just thought those were the perfect stamps to use on this page.  I rarely think to use stamps on my pages and I am so glad for this challenge to give me that little creative nudge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog....smile it is almost the weekend.

Hello Fall

We live in Florida where we have 2 seasons almost summer and summer.  There is very little changing colors and signs of fall here.  But recently we made a weekend trip to North Carolina and enjoyed the beginnings of their fall season.  I was able to break out my sweaters and go to a pumpkin patch. We also went out to the Yates Mill near Raleigh and took some breathtaking photos.  I decided to make a collage of some of the weekend photos and pair it up with these gorgeous papers from the Cocoa Daisy Main Kit.  I used this awesome sketch from Paper Issues:

I am also entering this page in Clique Kits October Anything Goes Challenge
and
Cocoa Daisy's Foxy Selfie Challenge

I hope you are enjoying fall wherever you are....and don't forget to document it!

Get Well Soon

My father-in-law had shoulder surgery last week and I wanted to make him a card that would make him smile.  So of course I broke out my Lawn Fawn stamps because their cute little critters always make me smile.  Who can resist that little birdie nurse perched on a bandage??

I used this fun sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch:

I hadn't played along with any of their sketches recently and have missed it.  When I saw this sketch I was immediately inspired.  In addition to the sketch challenge I am also entering this at Simon Says Stamp's Work It Wednesday Challenge to Use A Stamp

Well it is off to work I go....have a wonderful Tuesday.

Happy Birthday Pat

A very dear friend of my Dad's and of ours is celebrating her 83rd birthday this week.  She has also been very ill so I wanted a bright and cheery card to send to her for her birthday.

I used this pretty sketch from My Favorite Things:

I am also entering this is Simon Says Stamp's Work it Wednesday Use a Stamp Challenge and Seize the Birthday's current challenge.

This will be headed off tomorrow to beautiful Colorado to bring a smile.  And if I could ask a BIG favor?  If you are the praying type, please say a prayer for Pat and for my Dad as they go through this difficult time.  If you are not the praying type, some positive thoughts would be appreciated.

Have a wonderful and happy week.  And don't forget to try to make someone smile this week.

You've Got This

I recently won this stamp set from The Alley Way Stamps.  With loads of gamers in my family, I know I will be using this set over and over again.  This however, is the first time I inked it up and it is for an encouragement card for my oldest son, Matt (who loves video games, by the way).

I used this sketch from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps:

I recently found her blog and stamps and do not currently own any so I am entering a bunch of her challenges in an effort to start building my collection of her cute and awesome stamps.  I am entering this card in her current Wonderful Wednesday Challenge.

I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Watercolor Challenge -- yes, I water colored that background.  I am not too happy with it but I am still learning.  My friend Suzanne said the background looked "grungy".  That is the look I was going for so maybe it is not so bad after all.  I can be my own worst critic at times.

I am also entering this card in the Tuesday Throwdown Watercolor Challenge.

Well I am heading back to my creative space for a day of crafting.  What is on your agenda?

Paper Issues Fan-atics

My husband and I are hockey fanatics....BIG fanatics. Being from Chicago, our team of choice (of course) is the Chicago Blackhawks. This past spring they went to the Stanley Cup Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning.  We live 2.5 hours from Tampa so there was never any doubt that we would go see a game.  It was the chance of a lifetime to attend a Stanley Cup Final game and although they did not win the game we attended, it was an awesome game and a memory of a lifetime.  And we DID win the cup in 6 games on Chicago ice which was the crowning achievement of an awesome season.

I rarely create two page spreads but this memory needed 2 pages.  Here is the left page:

And this is the right hand page:

The new hockey season has just started and you know I will be rooting for my boys again and hoping for back-back championships.  It is a feat that has not been accomplished since the late 90's but I gotta believe that my boys are more than able.

Happy Birthday Aunt JoAnn

My mom passed away several years ago but for most of her adult life, her best friend was a former neighbor that I always called Aunt JoAnn.  It was her birthday this week and since she always remembers not only my birthday but also my wedding anniversary with a card, I wanted to make her a special card. I found this awesome sketch at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Wonderful Wednesday challenge and decided to play along:

Hop to Stop Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is an ugly thing and something that unfortunately has touched everyone in one way or another.  So when I saw the Hop To Stop I decided I was going to do my part to turn the internet purple and make a card to join this cause.

I used this World Card Making Day sketch from Scrapbook and Cards Today:

Here is the link to take part in the hop....I hope you will join me in becoming a part of the solution.

I am also entering this card in the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Wonderful Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge

Thank you for stopping by.

Crazy About You

I rarely have done a scrapbook page with all four of my grandchildren on it but when I saw this Page Maps sketch, the idea occurred to me.  This page will be for my scrapbook.  Here is the sketch I used:

Instead of cutting my photos into circles, I replaced the circles with rectagulare photos.  That is the beauty of a sketvh.  It is a starting point for me and to provide inspiration.  I rarely follow a sketch precisely.

I am entering this page in the Scrap Our Stash I-N-K-S challenge.  All of this materials on this page are from my older stash and the aqua circles are actually punched out of packaging from the Imaginisce Glass Stickers that the camera in the upper left portion of the page was from.  Now that is using my stash!!  Here are the items I used for the challenge:
I -- Inked edges, Imaginisce camera glass sticker
N -- Numbers on the date circle
K -- Kids!  I have pictures of my 4 grand Kids
S -- Star

I am also linking this up to Clique Kits October Anything Goes Challenge

Well this was a very full weekend of craftiness....but it is back to work tomorrow for a short week and then a long fun birthday weekend in North Carolina.  Have a wonderful week.

Ahoy Matey! Happy Birthday

My grandson Cole has more energy and more personality than anyone I know.  He is so fun to be around and since I live 1000+ miles away I miss him like crazy.  This coming week is his 10th birthday so I made him a pirate card.  There is a little bit of everything in this card....paper from Echo Park, the chipboard and stickers are from October Afternoon and the sentiment is Avery Elle. The sketch is this one from My Favorite Things:

I am entering this at the Simon Says Stamp blog post for World Card Making Day.  You can see the details HERE and pssst.....they have an awesome prize up for grabs

World Card Making Day

Today is one of my favorite days of the year....it is World Card Making Day.  I was able to make 3 cards today and read lots of blogs and entered lots of contests. I really liked this card when I was done making it.  I wish I could say that about all the cards I make but unfortunately I am just not happy with some of them.  But this one is a keeper.  I used this great sketch  and just flipped it 90 degrees from Vive La Verve:

I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge

I hope you had an awesome day also!  Happy weekend!

Hooray

Next weekend we are going to North Carolina for a big birthday bash.  This is the last card I needed to make.  We will be celebrating 4 birthdays including little Lily's 4th birthday.  Lily is a real girlie girl so I had to make her an ultra girlie card with LOTS of pink....her favorite color (of course!)

I used this awesome sketch from Viva La Verve:

Have a wonderful evening!
