2013 -- Week #37

I still have a few make-up weeks to catch up on for 2013.  Here is one of them.  I used this sketch #265 from Creative Scrappers for inspiration:

Here are both pages for the week shown together.

And here is the left page by itself....it was my youngest son's birthday that week and the 12th anniversary of 911.

I stamped the branch that the cute lil' owl is perched on, on my Week #37 card so I am also entering it in the Stuck on U Sketches Project Life Use a Stamp Challenge.

Edited to Add: I am also entering this page in the Moxie Fab National Scrapbooking Day Scrapbooking Rocks Challenge.  You can see all the details HERE.

A Tweet Thank You

I love cards where the cardmaker creates sweet little scenes.  I am working on learning to do that myself and collectiong various stamps with images to aid me as well.  Here is another attempt.  I used a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp and punched the clouds and butterflies with EK Success punches.  The paper is from Lawn Fawn....don't you just LOVE the tiny print?

I am entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Things With Wings Challenge .  I am slipping my entry in right under the wire before the deadline..

I hope your Easter was wonderful.  Ours was quiet but restful but just what we needed as we face another work week tomorrow morning.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

New Home, New Life

My niece Frances and her husband Dan recently relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina from the Chicago area.  I know firsthand what that is like having done that myself nearly 11 years ago.  My husband and I moved to South Carolina to make a new life for ourselves.  It is not easy leaving friends and family but Dan had a wonderful job offer and I know they will enjoy the warmer weather in Raleigh and make friends quickly.  I wanted to send a card with our congratulations and to welcome them to southern living.  I used my two favorites on this card..... a nearly vintage Bella Blvd collection called Honey I'm Home and sentiment stamps from 2 different Paper Smooches stamps. I am entering it in the Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge.

Happy Easter Cole

I hope my 8 year old grandson Cole does not think he is too old for this card.  It is really hard to make Easter cards for tween boys.  I think next year I will just send them candy and money....I am sure they will like that!!

I am entering this card in Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge -- Animal Antics

Have a wonderful rest of the week -- the weekend is in sight!!

Have an Egg-cellent Easter

Making an Easter card for a 12 year old boy is not an easy thing but I hope I achieved it with this card for my grandson Jacob.  He is a sweet kid and I just sent a package of goodies for him and his brother Cole today.  They live in Indiana and I really miss getting to spend holidays with them.

For this card I used this sketch from Always Playing With Paper:

Week #13 -- the last week of March was a very busy week for us.  It included a visit from an out of town friend, a business trip and a concert and chance to see and vist with Dave's friend Joel who is in Night Ranger.  I was able to document it all on my 2 page spread.

Here is the left page:

And here is the right page with the concert pictures and souvenirs:

I am entering these pages in Stuck on U Sketches PL challenge to use a top note.  There is a top note shape in the lower left hand corner on my left page.

I am also linking up these pages to Paper Issues Pitch Perfect Challenge......Night Ranger was pitch perfect at their concert.

Happy Birdie to You

One of my favorite challenge blogs -- Lawnscaping has a new challenge up to use a new tecnique.  Well I took on that challengewith this card with not one, but two new to me techniques. For the first  tecnique I broke out my brand new Lawn Fawn Hippo Birdie stamp set and matching die set.  I have never stamped and die cut my images before. Using the Lawn Fawn set made it quick and easy although I think I will color my images next time BEFORE I die cut them.

The nest new tecnique that I used on this card is embossing paste and a stencil.  I broke open my new jar of yellow embossing paste and a polka dot Heidi Swapp stencil and did a tone on tone yellow panel for my card.

I am entering this card in the Lawnscaping Challenge #79
and

I used this wonderful sketch from Mojo Monday for this card and am entering it over there as well.

That is it for now.  Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a lovely, creative day.

Watercolored Birthday Card

I tried watercoloring again with this card and I like the result.  I have recently been watching some You Tube tutorials on watercoloring and using the simple resist technique and that is what I used on this card.  I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and images from Avery Elle before I watercolored the page. I just love how colorful and happy it turned out.

I used this sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap:

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Week #12

Week #12 included buying a new surfboard, St. Patrick's Day and the first day of spring.  I documented my first day of spring card with some punched butterflies so I think I will enter it in Stuck on U Sketches PL challenge to use butterflies.

Here is the other page....I took an 8x10 enlargement, trimmed off an inch from to top and cut the enlargement to fit in the pockets.  I love the way this looks.

Here is how the 2 pages look together:
