Salt Life -- Bo Bunny and The Paper Variety Challenges

As soon as Bo Bunny announced this summer collection "Barefoot and Bliss" I knew I would have to have it.  I stopped in at my favorite local scrapbook store (LSS) and asked her to bring it in because I wanted ALL of it. She brought it and I bought it....lol!  Then I saw the current Bo Bunny challenge (actually my scrappin' buddy Suzanne showed me) and knew I had to enter.  The challenge is to find inspiration from an advertisement for a project using a Bo Bunny collection.  Well I drew my inspiration from the colors in this Ralph Lauren paint ad:

I also used this wonderful sketch from this week's challenge over at The Paper Variety:

This sketch was perfect to use with my new Bo Bunny papers and pictures of my grandsons when they were down here visiting a couple of summers ago.  These 2 challenges were so much fun to combine and I love the end result!

Happy Birthday Marti

Today is my dear friend Marti's birthday and to celebrate I made her this clean and simple birthday card.  I love red and white together and how crisp and clean it looks.  It sounds like she had a wonderful day celebrating....I am so glad because she really deserves it.  Love you Marti!

Happy Anniversary

My in-laws are celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary this weekend.  This is the card I made for them.  I am not very good at wedding or anniversary cards so I just made it in my funky kind of way but the sentiment is heartfelt.  Congratulations are certainly in order when you have spent a lifetime with one another.  I used 3 papers from Basic Grey's Life of the Party 6x6 pad (including the wood grain pattern paper that I matted the sentiment on) so I am entering it in the Scrapbookers Anonymous challenge.  I am also entering it the CAS-ual Friday challenge to use an edge punch on my card.

Buddies

Dave's brother and his wife have the cutest little boys.  When we received this photo last week, I just knew I had to scrap it.  I used October Afternoon's Seaside collection.....one of my favorites from last summer but I absolutely love it.  The nostalgic feel to it brings me back to summers visiting my grandparents in Cape May, New Jersey.  I think it was there that I feel in love with the beach...a life-long romance with all things associated with the sea.  I used this sketch:

I am entering this page in The Paper Variety's summer challenge and Sketches in Thyme June open challenge.

Party Time

Abby had two birthday celebrations this year.  The first one was on her birthday and was a celebration of cake in her jammies and a couple of gifts from Mom and Dad.  I already scrapped that mini-party.  The weekend following her birthday she had a pizza party for family and friends.  It included lots of presents, her cousins and a Sponge Bob birthday cake.  I used Imaginisce's Birthday Bash on this page and this gorgeous 6-14 sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches.

I also entered this page over at Wee Memories Party Time challenge #60 which you can see HERE.

It's a Girl!!

My son Matt and his wife Amy are expecting another girl in August.  This is the first ultrasound they had of Isabelle in February 2011 and I just had to make a layout with it.  Then this week Amy had another ultrasound....this one was in 3D and Matt and Abby were there to look on.  Isabelle had her hand in her mouth most of the time but they FINALLY got her to take her hand out of her mouth and got this picture:

Isn't it awesome?  I think she is absolutely beautiful at 32 weeks...Abby at 3 years old thinks her sister "looks scary"!!  I think there will be 2 ultrasound layout pages in the beginning of Isabelles's baby book. Stay tuned.

CAS-ual Fridays card

I love the CAS-ual Fridays challenge blog.  They had a really fun challenge this week called Tic Tac Toe.  I had to use all the elements in a row either up, down or diagonally on a clean and simple (CAS) card.

I chose the row with twine, felt and embossing.  I enbossed my cardstock with my Cuttlebug and used a Basic Gray Feltie from the Oliver collection.  Then I tied up some layered cardstock with some twine.  This card is soon to be on it's way to my grandson Cole. I have a box of goodies for him and his older brother Jacob.  I love to spoil my grandchildren and wish I had unlimited resources to do so.

Scenic View

I am really enjoying working with these pictures from our trip to Colorado.  My husband took such awesome photographs of the beautiful mountains and scenery out there that I will be scrapping pages with the pictures for quite awhile.  While walking around the tourist section of Estes Park I literally stumbled into the cutest little scrapbook and stamp store....how lucky is that???  I bought just a few items as Dad was sitting on the bench outside and I did not want to keep him waiting.  (Plus Dave "chaperoned" me inside the store to make sure that I didn't blow all our spending money in the scrapbook store!!)  This die cut sheet was one of the papers I bought and I love it.  The bottom border of trees, grass and wildlife is from Martha Stewart and the picture of Dave and I on the mountain where Dave's head is cut off is courtesy of my dad....thanks Dad!  lol  I used the 6-9-11 sketch from Sketchy Thursday.

Father's Day Card

Prior to when we went out to Colorado I had made my dad a Father's Day card and gift.  We celebrated with him while we were out there.  We even bought him a new lightweight bagless vacuum and made him a nice dinner one evening.  However I still have a couple of other special fathers in my life....my wonderful father-in-law and my 2 sons are also fathers.  So I am still working on Father's Day gifts and cards.  Today I was inspired by the sketch over at CAS-ual Fridays for this card.  I really like the CAS style (clean and simple) and it worked perfectly for this card.  Don't you just LOVE this ribbon?  It is Stampin' Up's 1.25" grosgrain ribbon in Marina Mist paired with Baja Breeze cardstock.  I love this ribbon so much I will need to make sure that I save some to use on a project that I will be keeping for myself!

Springtime in the Rockies

We recently came back from spending a long Memorial Day weekend in Colorado.  We visited with my dad and jammed alot of sightseeing into 4 days.  We just loved seeing and spending time in the Rockies.  Being from Florida the change of scenery was very refreshing even though it was a bit cooler than we are used to this time of year.  The day we went up on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, it actually snowed!  I printed up some of my pictures this last weekend and I even scrapped a couple of them.  I saw this awesome sketch at Sketchy Thursdays this week and knew it would work for me.

I kept the layout simple so Dave's pictures would be the star. Before I go I would like to share a couple more pictures from our trip....you will probably see these on upcoming pages.

Respect the Mustache

This is my youngest grandson Cole doing what he does best......being an adorable little boy! When I saw these pictures on Facebook I loved everything about them....the guitar tee shirt, the poses and that great mustache!  I found the perfect two page sketch this weekend for these pictures from Let's Scrap.  I rarely attempt 2 pagers but always like them when I do.  I used some vintage 80's blue Bugle Boy buttons from a big jar of buttons I bought at a local thrift store recently and on the left hand side page that is a vintage wooden button.  That mayonnaise jar full of old buttons was definitely worth the $5.00!

For a Sweet Friend

Sometimes in life bad things happen to good people.  That was the case nearly a year ago when my dear friend Marti was diagnosed with cancer for the second time in less than 2 years.  Marti's faith in God and strong will are keeping her fighting this battle.  Her sweet disposition and positive attitude is an inspiration to all who know her. To honor this strong woman I made this project for her upcoming birthday (sure hope she isn't reading this blog post yet....lol!) Galations 5:22 lists the Fruit of the Spirit and I see these characteristics in my friend very clearly. I hope it will be encouragement to her to continue to fight the fight and run the race and hang onto the faith and relationship with her Lord that gives her peace and strength.
